The Embassy of Japan - is a bilateral mission in Kathmandu and promotes Japanese interests in Nepal. The embassy also plays an important role in development, cultural affairs and contacts with the local press. The activities of all Japanese embassies are usually coordinated by the Ministries of Foreign Affairs. The Japanese Embassy in Kathmandu is headed by Mr Kunio Takahashi - Ambassador to Nepal.

Consular Services - The consular department in the embassy offers consular assistance. The consular department in general offers services to local people who plan to visit Japan as well as for Japanese citizens located in Nepal. Generally, services comprise of visa applications, passport renewals, marriage registration, legalization of documents, birth of a child, Japanese nationality issues and more.
