Passport Information by Country


Apply for a new passport at the Embassy or Consulate.

A passport is issued by a the national government of your homecountry. A passport certifies the nationality and identity of the holder of the passport for international travel. In a passport the information about the passport holder include name, gender, date of birth, and place of birth.

A passport does not give the passport holder automatic entry into another country. A passport entitles the passport holder to return to the country that issued the holders passport.

Most common types of passports that you can apply for at your Embassy or Consulate
 
- Ordinary passport
This passport is issued to the citizens of the country that issued the passport or to other nationals that by law are entitled to a passport of siad countryt. The ordinary passport is the type of passport that is the most-issued worldwide. It is in certain countries sometimes possible to have your children registered within your ordinary passport as being the parent, rendering it functionally the same as a family passport.
 
- Official passport
This type of passport is Issued to employees of the government in relation to work-related travel.
 
- Diplomatic passport
This passport is issued to government officials and diplomats for work-related international travel. This passport is often also issued to the accompanying dependents.
 
- Emergency passport (temporary passport)
When your passport is lost or stolen and when there is not enough time to obtain a passport replacement the embassy will issue you a temporary Emergency passport.
 
Immigration and passports
 
Immigration officials often stamp exit and entry stamps in your passport. Such stamps can serve different purposes according to the laws of the country you are travelling through.

Consular Assistance for a passport application at the Embassy or Consulate

The consular department of the Embassy of your homecountry offers consular services to it's citizens who need to apply for a new passport or emergency travel document.

Only the Embassy or Consulate of your homecountry can assist you with your passport application while your are abroad. The consular department of the Embassy of your homecountry provides the passport application form and can inform you on the procedures to submit an application for a new passport or emergency travel document when you are abroad.

You can renew your passport by filling an application form at the consular office of your Embassy or Consulate. When there is no Embassy or Consulate of your homecountry located in the country where you are, you can contact a Consulate or Embassy of your homecountry at the nearest location either by e-mail or telephone.
